Empowering Diaspora Voices: The GACL Writers’ Collective
Operating under the prestigious auspices of the Greek-Australian Cultural League, this dedicated collective will provide a dynamic scholarly forum and collaborative space for Greek-Australian and Philhellene literature.
Our Mission:
- Cultivate Excellence: Nurture creative talent through peer review, workshops, and structured mentorship.
- Pathways to Publication: Equip members with the strategic insights and guidance required to navigate the journey from manuscript to formal publishing.
- Preserve Cultural Legacy: Advance, celebrate, and disseminate the profound literary and artistic contributions of our diaspora writers.
This initiative proudly furthers the GACL’s enduring commitment to elevating the creative milestones of our artistic community.
A new and exciting initiative is underway to create a Greek Australian writers’ support group
Under the auspices of the Greek-Australian Cultural League, this group will provide a space and forum to meet regularly to share Greek Australian and Philhellene writing.
The aim is to provide assistance, guidance, and support for group members as they pursue their chosen goals in creative writing and, perhaps, eventual publishing.
This is another initiative that aligns with the GACL’s aims to advance, support, and disseminate the creative endeavours of Greek-Australian writers and artists.
To launch this new initiative, the League will initially present:

Theme A: Writing our Inheritance
“There are stories we’ve inherited. Often, they’re told throughout our growing years. Sometimes they’re prised open or found in the nooks and crannies of heritage and
ancestry.”
Theme B: Writing as Advocacy
“We examine how writing awakens our empathy, becomes a call to action, contributes to the social discourse of change for a person or a group of people.”

Creative Writing Workshop 2
“Writing generated by the participants of Workshop 1 will have received one-to-one Feedback by Angela Costi before this second workshop. This workshop will focus on how to provide constructive feedback and how to edit your writing towards a point ready for submitting to journals, competitions or other public spheres.”
Genres of writing covered: poetry, memoir, flash fiction and short stories. All writing levels catered for.

Μια αξιόλογη πρωτοβουλία από τον Ελληνο-Αυστραλιανό Πολιτιστικό Σύνδεσμο
Μια νέα και αξιόλογη πρωτοβουλία προγραμματίζετε υπό την αιγίδα του Ελληνο Αυστραλιανού Πολιτιστικού Συνδέσμου.
Η ιδέα είναι να δημιουργηθεί μία ομάδα στήριξης ελληνοαυστραλών και φιλελλήνων συγγραφέωνη οποία θα συναντιέται τακτικά για να μοιράζεται το συγγραφικο έργο των δημιουργων. Είτε πρόκειται για πεζογραφία, ποίηση, δράμα, κ.λπ..
Θα είναι μια ευκαιρία να μοιραστούμε, και να προσφέρουμε βοήθεια, καθοδήγηση και υποστήριξη στους συγγραφείς.
Αυτή είναι άλλη μια πρωτοβουλία που ευθυγραμμίζεται με τους στόχους του Συνδέσμου, να προωθήσει, να στηρίξει και να διανέμει τις δημιουργικές προσπάθειες ελληνοαυστραλών συγγραφέων.
Για την έναρξη αυτής της πρωτοβουλίας, ο Σύνδεσμος προγραμματίζει αρχικά δύο λογοτεχνικά εργαστήρια, τα οποία θα πραγματοποιηθούν από τη διακεκριμένη ποιήτρια και συγγραφέα Angela Costi.
Τα είδη γραφής που θα καλύψουμε/εξετάσουμε είναι η ποίηση, τα απομνημονεύματα, η πολύ σύντομη πεζογραφία (flash fiction), και τα διηγήματα. Θα καλυφθούν όλα τα επίπεδα γραφής.
Εργαστήριο Δημιουργικής Γραφής 1
Θέμα Α: Γράφοντας την κληρονομιά μας
“Υπάρχουν ιστορίες που έχουμε κληρονομήσει. Συχνά, τις ακούμε καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια των χρόνων που μεγαλώνουμε. Κάποιες φορές ανοίγονται με προσπάθεια η εντοπίζονται/βρίσκονται στις κρυφές γωνιές της κληρονομιάς και της καταγωγής μας.”
Θέμα Β: Γραφή ως υπεράσπιση
«Εξετάζουμε πως η γραφή αφυπνίζει και αναζωπυρώνει την ευαισθησία μας, γίνεται μια πρόσκληση για δράση, και συμβάλλει στον κοινωνικό διάλογο για την αλλαγή για ένα άτομο η ομάδα ανθρώπων.»

Εργαστήριο Δημιουργικής Γραφής 2
«Τα κείμενα που δημιουργήθηκαν από τους συμμετέχοντες στο 1ο εργαστήριο θα έχουν λάβει ατομική βοήθεια από την Angela Costi. Αυτό το εργαστήριο θα εστιάσει στον τρόπο παροχής εποικοδομητικής καθοδήγησης, και πώς να επεξεργαστείτε το κείμενό σας για υποβολή σε περιοδικά, διαγωνισμούς και άλλους δημόσιους χώρους.»
