Επιτυχημένη πρωτοβουλία
Η ιδέα για να διοργανώσει ο Ελληνο-Αυστραλιανός Πολιστικός Σύνδεσμος μια ομαδική έκθεση έργων τέχνης προέκυψε πολλά χρόνια πριν, αλλά έγινε πραγματικότητα πριν μερικά χρόνια, υλοποιώντας έναν ακόμη πρωταρχικό στόχο του Συνδέσμου.
Κύριος στόχος της συλλογικής έκθεσης “Antipodean Palette” είναι η προώθηση των εικαστικών τεχνών στην ελληνική παροικία δίνοντας την ευκαιρία σε καλλιτέχνες να παρουσιάσουν τα έργα τους στο ευρύτερο κοινό.
Η απόφαση για τη διοργάνωση μιας έκθεσης τέχνης ξανασυζητήθηκε το 2010, κατά τη διάρκεια της προετοιμασίας του περιοδικού “Αντίποδες” του Συνδέσμου. Πρόκειται για ένα ετήσιο δίγλωσσο λογοτεχνικό περιοδικό του Συνδέσμου, στο οποίο εκτός από λογοτεχνικά έργα δημοσιεύονται και άρθρα στα αγγλικά ή ελληνικά για μια σειρά από πολιτιστικά ζητήματα που παρουσιάζουν ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον για τους Ελληνο-Αυστραλούς.
Τότε το διοικητικό συμβούλιο του Συνδέσμου αποφάσισε ομόφωνα να επεκτείνει τις δραστηριότητές του στις εικαστικές τέχνες, ξεκινώντας με μια ομαδική έκθεση το 2011.
